Mutual friends are friends that you have in common with another friend, and only show up when on someone elses profile who are friends of you and your friends. If you don't have any of the same friends added as that person, you have no mutual friends with them.
For example. If Alex is Toni's friend, and Alex is your friend, Alex's Facebook account will appear on Toni's profile as mutual friend.
