A young party from Sweden, Pirate Party (Swedish: Pirat Partiet), has won a seat in European Parliament. The result show Pirate Party has 7,1 percent of votes and get a seat from 18 seats for other Sweden's parties in European Parliament.
Pirate Party was founded in early 2006 and grows strong attracted members angered by controversial laws adopted in Sweden that criminalised filesharing and authorised monitoring of emails. After four Swedes got a year in jail as the Stockholm Court decision, because they ran the biggest file sharing site, The Pirate Bay.
That incident of laws makes Pirate Party has attracted many people to do its goal to legalise internet file sharing and increaase the web privacy. Pirate Party also will ask reform the copyright laws and patent system. These ideas could attract support in the UK very well.
